Cherry Nails and Chocolate
I have been hit by my first Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) meltdown of the year. I am usually hit by a crushing wave of winter angst mid-January but darkness came a little earlier this year. Alas, I do not have a vacation home in a sunny clime or rich friends with time share condo’s. Instead I have friends who send me articles likeĀ Wah, Wah, I Have Seasonal Affective Disorder from The Onion. Hardee har har. Between vowing to look for new friends and a good deal on a beach vacation, I must make do with whatever small bits of happiness I can manufacture.
After staring at my light therapy box with minimal effect, I dragged my sniffling self to a cheap nail place for a fifteen dollar manicure, opting for the brightest garish red I could find. I felt slightly cheered and upped the happiness quotient by getting some chocolate covered cherries to match my new nails.
I still had murderous thoughts towards everyone I encountered on the street and am one sigh away from another cry-fest, but my nails are shiny and sticky with oozy cherry chocolate goodness.
Just seventy more days until spring.

You can make it girl. I think I even saw the sun today. Go get some chocolate and make life better.

Ok, I won’t cause further depression by telling you what I did yesterday, but hang in there - err, I guess this is where I’m supposed to say something about how winter will soon be over, so hang in there, winter will soon be over! ( and then it will start all over again!
