Antony and the Johnsons are Coming!
One week until Antony and the Johnsons arrive in Toronto!
The Sweetie and I saw him at the Trinity Church on Bloor Street a few years ago and we were awestruck. So haunting and melancholy. I was lucky enough to hear him in Brooklyn a couple of years ago and again I was awed. Such a beautiful, tormented, brilliant soul. I hear his magical voice and I imagine a slow motion chorus line of beautiful drag queens, heavy tears rolling down their perfect faces. The Sweetie imagines a baby bird forgotten in its nest, now fully grown, still sadly warbling for its mama to return.
It has been too long since I’ve had my Antony fix.

Lucky you two for having tickets. Concert was soldout in Vancouver.
Antony was “my find of 2007/8″ …. his performance of “If it be your will” on the Leonard Cohen ‘I’m Your Man’ concert DVD is mesmerizing … he is so fragile. Have you heard his latest CD.. another treasure.
Baby Dee, another performer in the same vein, was on Gabriola Island recently (also performed in a church …. what is it with performing in a church!). Baby Dee was also a fragile, talented performer, but not a patch on Antony.
