Pug Update

The morning started out perfectly. The sun was shining and I was feeling smug after my seasonal trip to the gym when I spotted the beloved neighbourhood pug with his man servant. Oh happy happy day!

I ran across the street, coffee in hand, bellowing “Hi! Hi! I haven’t seen you guys in so long!”

I may have scared the pug’s owner just a little. He looked a little startled and disturbed when I gushed that I was their biggest fan.

You are just the best dog owner, you guys are the best couple! I saw you giving your dog a fifteen minute massage once, I was spying from my window, you’re fantastic.”

The poor owner looked perplexed and maybe even a little uneasy. I’m sure he doesn’t remember me from when I accosted the two of them on the street and he had explained that his pug is a suntanning freak. Perhaps recognizing a true and sincere fan, however, he decided he was safe, nodded and said, “He’s a great dog. Best relationship I’ve ever had.”

The darling pug allowed me to give him a massage and I as I squeezed generous handfuls of fat rolls he did the special dog lean, when dogs press their bums against your leg and stay very still. Every now and then he looked at me with his googly eyes and conceded to more massaging.  I learned that the pug enjoys coffee, is ten years old, and his name is Maxmillian. Of course it is!

It’s going to be a glorious day.
