The Easter bunny is definitely a clothing optional kind of guy, which is kind of creepy when you really think about it!

I take it you did not see the ultimate rabbit in front of Lefeuvre's on Mt. Pleasant. This is the classic chocolate store(since 1927) that has been there for years selling hand made chocolate bunny's in cars and carrying golf clubs, among other things, at eastertide.
The owner use to be sedate in keeping with the WASPs of the North Toronto hood they inhabited. No one knew the store known as LE FEVER'S with the non-descript 1940ish sign except by the line ups up and down Mt. Pleasant at Easter and Valentine's. Now , new owners and new time, a pre-Easter pant-less(or does fur count as pants) Rabbit was standing and waving at all the drivers as we went north on Mr. Pleasant. Think the fur does count. May be you can drop in the chocolate store and and ask their view.

I know what you mean about the Easter Bunny wearing a vest! He does wear pants though, although I think it's actually a kind of furry pajama suit with feet - here is a photo of him with his girlfriend (he's the white one with the polka dot bow tie):
